What challenges did our customer face?

A start-up incubator engaged us to support its technology business portfolio as it recognised that the management team from those early ventures needed support from experienced technology and business advisors.

What did we do?

We worked as support agents for 20+ start-ups, advising them on their technology strategy, helping to align technology plans with their business plans, highlighting risk areas, providing mitigation options, and helping define best practice processes.


We also acted as a temporary resource augmentation provider as and when required.


Our most major contributions include:

  • helping a start-up reduce its IT budget from £12M down to £4M by recommending and supporting a technology shift, allowing a significant cost reduction during periods of lesser usage.
  • successfully identified and communicated a significant delay on a critical project, worked through mitigating options and supported the continuous delivery of the project. This resulted in avoiding a 6-month delay in the delivery.
  • helped the CTO of a start-up to clearly communicate its budget need, resulting in an increased IT budget of 30% and allowing the technology to truly support the business growth.

Outcome

By acting as advisors, we increased start-ups' chances of success and acted as a bridge between each start-up and its investors. This allowed us to foster constructive discussions around technology challenges and ensure everyone was working towards a common goal.
